Barks of Approval for COTG’s Latest Fundraiser

Bolingbrook, Illinois – May 29, 2012 – Chicago Office Technology Group employees did not hesitate when the request for participants was sent out for the first annual Flag Football Fundraiser to be played at the Walter Payton Center at Halas Hall. After the overwhelming response of registration, there was much anticipation over which COTG bred team would claim the winning title, but there was no question that this event had the makings to be one of the company’s most successful fundraisers to date.

At the beginning of April, when the announcement was made asking for participants to play in the game, an overwhelming amount of people registered for the event. While some signed up for the unique opportunity to play where the likes of Brian Urlacher and Devin Hester practice, it’s no question that all were playing for the animals. Two teams, consisting of 20 players and 2 coaches each, were asked to raise a minimum of $100 per player and $200 per coach. The results of the fundraising efforts were nothing to growl at, as almost $5,000 was raised for PAWS Chicago due to the generosity of players and sponsors.

"I enjoyed being a part of this event," said Charlene Cullen, the event's largest donor of sponsorship money. "When it comes to charity I think it's important to go all out and I'm really happy that all of the contributions are able to help so many animals in the Chicagoland area."

In additional efforts to raise money for PAWS Chicago, COTG held a silent auction, "Jeans Day," and a "Wish List" donation competition in the weeks leading up to the May 21st flag football game. Over 350 items from PAWS Chicago’s "Wish List" and almost $1,000 were open-handedly donated through these events. In total, $5,752.50 was donated to PAWS Chicago, in addition to the items for the "Wish List," which will benefit the Adoption Center.

"Wow, that’s amazing," said Justine Reichardt, Special Events Coordinator for PAWS Chicago, when she heard the amount of money that COTG was donating. "This money will go a long way to support our efforts in making Chicago a No Kill city, and the animals at the Adoption Center will love all of the Wish List donations."

Founded in 1997, PAWS Chicago was created to end the senseless killing of homeless pets in our community. Since being founded, PAWS Chicago has helped over 20,000 pets find new homes and is on track to have 4,500 pets adopted this year.
