COTG Sponsors Golf Outing with Strack and Van Til
Chicago, IL November 7, 2012- With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, it’s easy at this time of the year to want to help those in need. Strack and Van Til, a suburban grocery store in Chicago and Northwest Indiana, held a special golf outing to support our neighbors in need at the end of August. This outing was meant to raise funds for a number of food pantries in Illinois and Indiana, showing us all that help doesn’t have to come only once a year.
As a sponsor of this event, COTG is proud to see the generous success that has come from it. Strack and Van Til was able to send $4,533 to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Carbondale, IL, $9,067 to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, $45,333 to the Northern Illinois Food Bank in Geneva, IL and $77,067 to the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana Gary, IN. In addition to the outing itself, there was also a silent auction held, raising an additional $25,000 for St. James Family Help Center.
Strack and Van Til opened their doors in 1960 in Highland, IN and stands as the largest independent grocery operator in Northwest Indiana. Their commitment to their customer’s satisfaction and a desire to give back to the community they serve are just some of the reasons COTG chose to assist in this fundraiser.
