COTG Donates Over 3,500 Items to Local Food Pantry
Bolingbrook, Illinois – November 26, 2012 – Thanksgiving has long been known to
bring families together, giving thanks for friends, football, good food and much
more. However, for some, this time can be a reminder of earlier struggles – and
a reliance on local food pantries to continue holiday meal traditions. Recognizing
this need, COTG annually hosts a Thanksgiving Food Drive to support the local community.
COTG hosted a Thanksgiving Food Drive throughout the month of November, with a goal
of collecting Thanksgiving specific food – mashed potatoes, stuffing, turkey and
more – to put together Thanksgiving baskets that would be donated to local families
in need. Employees were encouraged to contribute these items that would be donated
to the DuPage Township Food Pantry, to prepare for the rush in donation requests
that occur around the holidays.
As a result of the three week fundraiser, COTG donated over 3,500 items to the DuPage
Township Food Pantry. COTG’s donation was recognized publicly by DuPage Township
Supervisor, Bill Mayer, during a special broadcast of WGN Radio live from the food
pantry on November 20th.
"A special thanks goes to COTG and other companies in our community, who really
stepped up to help out and make our serving of over 1,300 families possible this
year," said Mayer.
The DuPage Township Food Pantry provided almost 1,400 families with Thanksgiving
meals this year. All donations go to local area families and individuals in need
within the DuPage Township district.
